Briefing Details

The competition headquarters including the venue for registration, the daily departure point for groups (unless otherwise organised by groups), the AGM and the Presentation Dinner will be: Lake Jindabyne Hotel, 21 McClure Circuit, Jindabyne, NSW 2627.

Step 3: Competition Organiser will confirm acceptance of entries (and if over subscribed will inform those that have missed out) and will publish the groupings on the website - Wed 16th November 2022. Please refer to the website news section regularly where nominations will be posted to keep track of entry numbers.
Step 4: Compulsory attendance of Registration and Competitor briefing to receive your Welcome Pack for the XXIX Australian Fly Fishing Championships. Included with your pack you will be provided your sector rotation, boat partners and beat numbers.

There will also be nibbles provided. We look forward to seeing you at the briefing.

General Advice

Competitors are responsible for their own accommodation, transport and meals (excluding the presentation dinner)..

All accommodation arrangements are the choice and responsibility of competitors. There are ample accommodation options in Jindabyne including hotels, caravan parks and Air BnB.

Competition waters and Practice Waters

Competition waters for rivers and lakes (bank and loch style) are subject to a 7-day closure prior to the first competition day, being midnight on Wednesday 30 November 2022.
Practice waters are all those waters not specifically identified as competition sectors and as noted on the sector maps. PLEASE NOTE THAT MAPS HAVE NOW BEEN PROVIDED ON THE WEBSITE UNDER NEWS/NATIONALS 2022 UPDATE as of 22 Nov 2022.

Please also note that Competition Entry nominations CLOSE as of midnight on 13th November 2022.


This competition is subject to FFA Competition rules.

Rule Modifications

  • Boat steaming time on all lakes will be 15 minutes noting that during the first five minutes boats MUST NOT be on the plane.


General Safety

The Competition Organisers reserve the right to allocate alternative competition sectors having regard to safety and other considerations as circumstances dictate at the time. This will be communicated at the Competitor Briefing or by email beforehand if appropriate and feasible.

Boat Safety

FFA Competition Boating Policy applies to this event.

Boats can be launched on the lake venues during the closed period but they must immediately be taken to their mooring point and should not travel more than 200m from their launching point if at all possible.

PFDs (life jackets) must be worn in all boat sessions. PFDs are to be in current service date as required by Maritime regulations. Competitors are to provide their own PFDs and should not rely on boat owners to provide them.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES If a boat requires assistance oars must be held vertically. Other boats are requested to render assistance. In the event of an emergency on the lake mobile phones and radios can be used to obtain assistance but are strictly prohibited for any other purpose.


All competitors must take responsibility for their own actions. Neither Fly Fish Australia Incorporated nor individual FFA CHAPTERS accepts any responsibility for any injury or loss incurred by any competitor, official or any participant or observer during the running of this competition or other events. All competitors are required to hold a valid state fishing licence.
