Team Selections following National Championships (2020) to be held in Tasmania April 2021
The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted our local competitions and has effectively cancelled our selected teams’ ability to participate in international championships in 2021.
FFA understand how disappointing it is to be selected in a team and to then have to forego the opportunity of competing. Let us hope that 2022 will be a better year in many respects and that our teams will once again be able to compete internationally.
Following the National Championships (2020) in Tasmania a number of teams will be selected to represent Australia in various championships, namely:
FIPS-Mouche World Seniors Championships (Spain 2022 )
FIPS-Mouche World Ladies Championships (Italy July 2022)
FIPS-MoucheWorld Masters Championships (Italy July 2022)
Commonwealth Championships (mens and ladies teams) (Islay, Scotland August/September 2022)
In addition teams will be selected to compete in a Trans -Tasman bubble competition the details of which are currently being finalised. This will be a two event competition. The first event in Australia in February 2022 and the second event on the North Island of New Zealand in March/April 2022. Winners will be determined from the combined results from the two events. This will be a low cost competition with organisational/logistical requirements kept to a minimum. There will be a mix of teams: two mens teams, a ladies team and a Masters team. Each team will have 5 members. Those members who are selected for the Fips-Mouche championships referred to above and for the Commonwealth Championships mens team will form the teams.
The Trans -Tasman bubble competition should be a great team building and practice opportunity for our 2022 teams and should enable friendships to be renewed and formed with our Kiwi neighbours.
